Canberra’s annual mowing program has begun, with more than 80 mowers being deployed across the city during the spring and summer growing season.

The program runs from September to March, covering public grassed areas including parks, paths, sporting fields, roadsides and laneways.

During the season, suburbs, open spaces and arterial roads are scheduled to be mown on average every 25 available days, weather permitting.

City Presentation acting executive branch manager Sue Marriage said regular mowing also helped maintain clear lines of sight for motorists along roads and at intersections.

Residents can check the government’s mowing map for recently completed work and when crews are expected in their area.

The government says residents remain responsible for mowing and maintaining nature strips adjoining their properties.
