More than 30 choirs from Canberra and neighbouring states will gather at Snow Concert Hall in Canberra Grammar School on August 8 for the 72nd Australian National Eisteddfod Choirs Event.

The annual event will feature singers of all ages, from primary and secondary school choirs to adult community ensembles, performing a wide variety of repertoire. Audiences can expect everything from small vocal groups to choirs of more than 100 voices in a day celebrating the richness and diversity of choral music.

Long recognised as one of the highlights of the Australian National Eisteddfod, the choir competition aims not only to encourage musical excellence, but also to foster creativity, confidence and community spirit among singers from across the region.

The event will be held in the 936-seat Snow Concert Hall and will be adjudicated by Australian composer and conductor Paul Jarman.

This year’s choral summit is directed by Miguel Wu, who joined the Australian National Eisteddfod committee in 2025 after extensive experience organising music competitions in Queensland. An accomplished musician, international adjudicator and music examiner, Wu’s aim is to provide a rewarding experience for competitors while maintaining the high standards for which the Eisteddfod is known.

Whether supporting a family member, appreciating community choirs or discovering young talent, audiences can expect a full day of enjoyable performances.
