Fullback Sheridan Gallagher has revealed cheese, biscuits and barbecues are providing the inspiration for Canberra to continue their historic NRLW premiership charge.

And it’s all coming from a player who won’t even run out with the team when they face the Sydney Roosters in a club-first preliminary final on Saturday.

Co-captain Simaima Taufa is agonisingly having to watch the Raiders from the sidelines after copping a three-game ban for dangerous contact on Parramatta fullback Abbi Church in round 10.

It initially dealt a huge blow to the side’s hopes of claiming a first premiership, as the Tonga-born Taufa brings a wealth of experience from making grand finals to racking up State of Origin appearances and winning the Dally M Medal in 2017.

But though she can’t employ her words of wisdom on the field, the 32-year-old lock has taken another route to help Canberra.

“Throughout the last couple of weeks, some of us have had off games, and she just picks up the phone, or she’ll just turn up at your door and sit down,” Gallagher told AAP.

“She’s been just pumping everyone up, doing whatever they need, whether it’s extras on the field or going around for a barbecue or cheese platter, just to hang out with the girls.

“It just really shows (the type of person Taufa is) when your captain’s knocking at your door wanting to watch the footy and bring some cheese and bikkies over.”

Gallagher added the team desperately wants a win over the undefeated Roosters at Allianz Stadium, as Taufa would return if they make the grand final.

The 32-year-old could also provide some inside knowledge after reaching two big dances with the Tricolours.

But centre Bobbi Law insists the team won’t need that after coming through the Roosters pathway system before eventually finding herself in the nation’s capital.

“I hope they’re coming in a little bit stressed and thinking, ‘Oh man, we’re up against the Raiders. It’s going to be a tough day for us,” Law told AAP.

“I’ve played alongside and against most of those girls throughout my whole career.

“The first time I chucked on an (NRLW) jersey, I had Simaima and Zahara (Temara) on my team, which is pretty crazy to now go full circle with them.”
