Community organisations across Canberra and south-east NSW can apply for a share of $150,000 in funding through the ActewAGL 2026 Community Grants program.
The annual program offers grants of up to $30,000 to not-for-profit organisations, charities, sporting clubs and grassroots community groups, with applications closing on June 30.
ActewAGL general manager retail Rohan Richardson said the grants were intended to provide practical support to organisations delivering frontline assistance.
“Community organisations are doing extraordinary work right now, helping families with everything from keeping food on the table to keeping the lights on,” Mr Richardson said.
“This $150,000 is about backing the people who support our community and ensuring they have the resources to keep showing up for the people who rely on them.”
Since 2020, the program has distributed $750,000 to more than 80 organisations across the region, supporting projects including homelessness services, mental health programs, community gardens and youth education initiatives.
Among last year’s recipients was Inherited Cancers Australia, using the grant to hold an information and support day in Canberra for people living with inherited cancer risk.
Programs and Advocacy Manager Robyn Smith said the event connected participants with medical experts and others with similar experiences.
