Fine for woman who ran on to airport tarmac

By aviation writer Scott Mayman

A woman has escaped jail time after being fined $750 for running on to the tarmac at Canberra Airport.

The incident happened two years ago when the woman smashed two fire alarm windows to get access to the tarmac… causing a reversing aircraft to stop.

She was arrested as she tried to get a taxi away from the airport.

The ACT Magistrates Court heard she suffered a psychotic episode before the incident.

In addition to the fine, the woman will have to pay compensation.
