A 74-year-old man has been arrested following an investigation into his alleged sexual abuse of a five-year-old girl.

Police will allege that the man abused the child at his south Canberra home between 2023 and 2024.

On February 19, police received a report regarding the alleged abuse and yesterday afternoon searched the man’s residence, where they found suspected child exploitation material on his phone.

The man has been charged with committing an aggravated act of indecency on a child under 10 years old and possessing child exploitation material.
