Police dodger found under his bed

A disqualified driver, who evaded police for two days, was found hiding under a bed at his Theodore home on Thursday.

The 28-year-old man has been charged with with driving while disqualified, aggravated furious, reckless or dangerous driving and having prescribed drug in oral fluid or blood.

On Wednesday police attempted to stop a grey Holden Cruze on Johnson Drive, believing the driver was disqualified. He took off when they tried.

On Thursday evening police again spotted the same Holden Cruze in Tharwa. Two unmarked police vehicles followed the driver before attempting to stop the vehicle on a residential street in Theodore.

Police allege the man refused to stop and instead drove off at speed on the opposite side of the road. He  narrowly missed a police vehicle but collided with a wall before fleeing.

The extensively damaged car was found at the man’s Theodore residence and the man under his bed.

He was arrested and taken to City Police Station where he returned a positive result to a drug screening test.
