Man dies in Murrumbidgee River ‘incident’

A 23-year-old man is dead following what police describe as an “incident” at the Murrumbidgee River on Thursday evening.

At about 5.40pm, police and emergency services responded to reports that a man had gone into the water near the Uriarra Crossing bridge and failed to surface.

A search for the man was commenced, utilising resources from

Teams from the police, AFP Search and Rescue, fire & rescue and the SES searched for the man, but his body was found in the water about 8.35pm.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
