Jessie Gould, 32, absconded from the Adult Mental Health Unit in Garran on Sunday night.

Police say he was referred to the Canberra Hospital by a magistrate last week for a mental health assessment.

Just after 7pm, Mr Gould damaged a window to abscond from the facility and was last seen heading towards Yamba Drive.

He was wearing black track pants with red stripes, a black hoodie and white shoes. He has a slim build, short dark hair and a dark beard.

Police say that to ensure Mr Gould’s safety, they are seeking public assistance to find him, but urge anyone who does sight him not to approach him. Call police on 131444.
