Liberals pin their Senate hopes on Jacob

ACT Liberal Senate hopeful Jacob Vadakkedathu.

Community leader Jacob Vadakkedathu has been endorsed as the Canberra Liberals number one Senate candidate for next year’s federal election.

The endorsement was previously held by long-term ACT politician Zed Seselja who lost the seat to independent David Pocock at the last election.

The ACT has no Liberal representation in the federal parliament.

Mr Vadakkedathu is a community advocate who has served the community through many local organisations and is the founding president of the Federation of Indian Associations ACT.

“I believe in a thriving society that is built on strong families, vibrant communities and a healthy environment,” Mr Vadakkedathu said.

“I want a fair share of Commonwealth funding to build the infrastructure Canberra needs, so that we are a world-class capital city.”

Mr Vadakkedathu was endorsed by the Canberra Liberals following a preselection meeting on Sunday.

Hayune Lee was also endorsed by the Canberra Liberals as the number two Senate candidate at the same meeting.
