The official 2023-24 high-risk weather season for storm and bushfire in the ACT ends on Sunday.
Emergency Services says that from Sunday, fire permits aren’t required for urban and rural land holders wishing to conduct burns.
“Land holders are still asked to notify authorities if they plan to conduct burns,” the ESA says.
“Penalties apply if fires are left unattended or escape containment.
“Despite the end of the offical high-risk weather season emergencies can still occur and it is important the Canberra community are prepared all year round.”
