A 55-year-old Forrest man has had his licence immediately suspended and will face the ACT Magistrate’s Court after returning a blood alcohol content reading almost eight times over the limit.

About 10.20am on June 8, a black Audi SUV was travelling south along Adelaide Avenue and Yamba Drive before crashing off the road at the roundabout with Melrose Drive in Hughes.

The driver was taken to hospital and provided a blood sample for testing, which later returned a result of 0.392.

The man has been issued with an immediate suspension notice and will be summonsed to court to face a high-range drink driving charge.

Police say additional evidence was provided by a member of the public who submitted footage of the Audi SUV driving erratically on the morning before the collision via the Dangerous Driving online submission form.
