A woman struggled against a man, armed with secateurs, to hang on to her handbag in an armed robbery in Torrens late on Friday afternoon.

Police say the woman was walking home when a white hatchback pulled up alongside. A man got out brandishing the pruning scissors and demanded the handbag. When she refused, he grabbed the bag and a small struggle ensued.

He took off with the belongings and the woman received minor injuries to her hand.

Police describe the man as as Caucasian in appearance with a solid build and shaved head. He was wearing a black puffer jacket, black pants and white sneakers.
