A 29-year-old man from NSW has been extradited to face charges in the ACT stemming from an alleged 2023 vehicle theft.

Police were at a home in Ngunnawal in April after receiving reports of an altercation between the occupant and the 29-year-old man.

The man fled in a white Toyota Corolla before crashing the car on the Majura Parkway. Police allege he then stole the vehicle of someone who’d stopped to help him.

The man was later arrested in Bateman’s Bay and charged with offences committed in NSW.

Following his release from prison in NSW, ACT police applied to have the man extradited to Canberra to face charges of taking a motor vehicle without consent, damaging property, failing to stop for police, dangerous driving and driving while disqualified.
