Woman accused of torching stolen car

A 40-year-old Scullin woman has been charged with arson and perverting the course of  justice following a car fire in O’Connor on Thursday night.

After an extensive investigation, on Thursday police arrested a 35-year-old man in relation to a series of incidents across Canberra over the past month.

As part of this investigation, police identified a stolen white Subaru XV being used in the alleged offending. This vehicle was later found burnt out on Boobialla Street, O’Connor.

A review of CCTV footage from the area allegedly shows the woman setting fire to the vehicle about 9.50pm on Thursday.

At about 6.15pm, on Friday police searched a residence on Jundivik Place, Scullin, where the woman was arrested.

She has been charged with perverting the course of justice, arson and riding in a stolen motor vehicle without consent.
