Men in driverless car arrested for crash

THREE men have been arrested, as none of them nominated a driver of the vehicle, following a “serious collision” on Flemington Road, Harrison.

About 10.55pm on Saturday, police received multiple reports of a collision between two vehicles on the southbound lanes of Flemington Road, near Harrison.

Witnesses identified three men getting out of a silver Holden Commodore and fleeing the scene immediately after it collided with a Nissan Leaf that was carrying four people. One of the four people received minor injuries in the collision.

A subsequent search of the area located the three men and, as none of them nominated a driver of the vehicle, all were subsequently arrested and charged with failing to provide particulars following a collision, failing to render assistance to an injured person and either refusing to provide a breath sample or drink driving.

They are scheduled to appear in court in October.

Police are urging any witnesses or anyone with dash-cam footage to call 1800 333000.
