Man dies from Casuarina Sands rafting incident

A 23-year-old man of Pakistani origin died on Wednesday afternoon following an incident at Casuarina Sands earlier on Sunday. 

Police say the man and two other men were floating in rafts on the Murrumbidgee River. About 4.50pm, the 23-year-old man – who police understand was an inexperienced swimmer – fell out of his raft and disappeared underwater.

The man was pulled from the water a short time later by members of the public, who commenced CPR until emergency services arrived at the scene.

He was taken to hospital, however died on Wednesday afternoon.

Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
