Man arrested for April aggravated robbery

A 37-year-old Rivett man has been arrested in relation to an aggravated robbery in Manuka from April.

A search warrant was executed on the man’s house on Thursday, and he was arrested.

On April 28, at 10.35am, ACT Police responded to reports of a robbery of a customer at a bank on Franklin Street, Manuka.

Police believe two men approached a third man who was attending the bank to make a cash deposit.

They allegedly threatened the man with weapons, including a firearm and a taser, and made off with a sum of cash.

Police do not believe this was a random incident, and the two men targeted the man making the bank deposit.

The 37-year-old Rivett man will face court, charged with aggravated robbery (in company), possession of an offensive weapon with intent, riding in a motor vehicle without consent, and breach of good behaviour obligations.

Police investigations into the identity of a second man believed to have been involved in the robbery are continuing.

Anyone with information should call 1800 333000.
