Electric mowers join the battle of the grass

THE  ACT government has replaced four diesel mowers with electric ride-ons as the mowing season – September to March – gets underway.

The four replacement electric mowers will join the existing fleet to mow more than 5000 thousand hectares of grass each mowing cycle.

The government says the electric mowers require minimal maintenance, with no grease points or belts and tubeless tyres. They take six hours to charge for an eight-hour run time. Their effectiveness will be monitored over the next three seasons.
