By aviation writer Scott Mayman

CANBERRA could soon be welcoming direct flights with NZ following a visit to Wellington by ACT Chief Minister Andrew Barr.

He spent two days across the Tasman, attending the Australia NZ Leadership Forum amid reports of a sideline meeting to discuss the direct-flights scenario.

He was also scheduled to attend a state dinner with the NZ Prime Minister Chris Hipkins.

Singapore Airlines’ Canberra-Wellington “Capital Express” flights started in 2016 but were axed in April 2018.
