20-year-old driver clocks up 11 charges

TWO drivers and two passengers were arrested following two separate incidents overnight.

At about 3.10am on Saturday, police engaged an allegedly stolen Nissan Tiida on Northbourne Avenue and chased the driver through Braddon, Reid and Campbell.

On Parkes Way, the driver allegedly drove at police officers attempting to deploy stop-sticks.

Police say the car failed to negotiate a roundabout on Anzac Parade, collided with a kerb and three people ran off.  All were arrested.

The 20-year-old male driver from Narrabundah is facing 11 charges including breach of bail, breach of a good behaviour order, driving at police, failing to stop for police, driving a motor vehicle without consent, driving without a licence and multiple traffic offences.

His passenger, a 21-year-old woman and a 59-year-old man, were each charged with riding in a motor vehicle without consent.

EARLIER, at about 7pm on Friday, police were called to the Monaro Highway following reports of a Toyota Camry with no lights on, driving erratically on the wrong side of the road. The Camry was stopped in the southbound lanes of the highway with witnesses engaging the driver.

Police say the 36-year-old Conder man was arrested and charged with reckless driving, driving under the influence of alcohol and refusing to undergo a screening test.

Police would like to speak to anyone who witnessed either incident or may have dash-cam footage of either incident. Call 1800 333000, or on the Crime Stoppers ACT website.
