
Work by a line-up of Australian artists will illuminate the facades of the city’s cultural institutions in the National Triangle during Enlighten 2026, Chief Minister Andrew Barr announced on Wednesday.
Yankunytjatjara artist Kaylene Whiskey’s animated projection Queens of the Desert will appear at the National Portrait Gallery, while Philip Bunting’s designs will illuminate Australian Parliament House.
A new projection and sound-based work, Kukawarra kwatja, pmara nhanhanama marra inthurra (soft rain, strong Country) by Yarrenyty Arltere Artists and Grace Kemarre Robinya, will be shown at the National Gallery.
The Museum of Australian Democracy will host Department of Memories, while Questacon’s Illuminate and a new work by Elanor and Giovani at the National Library will blend science and art.
On March 6, Lights! Canberra! Action! will celebrate local filmmaking talent in the Senate Rose Gardens, and Grande Experiences’ multi-sensory exhibition Leonardo Da Vinci: 500 Years of Genius will shift to Canberra from Melbourne.
Symphony in the Park will take place on March 8, featuring Mark Seymour of Hunters & Collectors with the Canberra Symphony Orchestra.
Enlighten will also extend beyond the National Triangle, including Heaven’s Gate by Marco Brambilla at the National Film and Sound Archive.
