Drunk driver flees police at RBT stop

A driver, who tested positive at a roadside breath test in Bonner, put the accelerator down and fled the RBT station on Wednesday evening.

Police say they clocked his black Mazda 3 doing around 160km/h in an 80km/h zone through the intersection of Horse Park Drive and David Walsh Avenue in Forde.

He was stopped and arrested at an intersection in Throsby.

At the City Police Station he returned a breath analysis of 0.121 – more than twice the legal blood alcohol limit.

He was immediately suspended from driving in the ACT for 90 days and charged with driving a motor vehicle with alcohol in his breath, failing to stop for police and dangerous driving.
