Man killed as flying object smashes windscreen

A 49-year-old Canberra man is dead after being struck in the head by a dislodged item from a caravan about 50km west of Yass early on Sunday evening.

The caravan was being towed in the opposite direction when the dislodged item penetrated the man’s windscreen along Burley Griffin Way at Galong.

NSW police say the man died before the arrival of emergency services.

Three females aged 48, 16 and 13 travelling in the vehicle were uninjured, but were taken to Canberra Hospital and treated for shock.

The 32-year-old male driver of the vehicle towing the caravan was not injured. He was taken to Harden Hospital for mandatory testing.
