Audi runs amok, teen faces serious charges

A 17-year-old boy is facing the ACT Children’s Court charged with several serious driving offences.

At about 1.45am on Saturday, police say they spotted a white Audi A6 travelling at excessive speeds along Ginninderra Drive, Florey, then driving erratically through Charnwood, Dunlop and Flynn.

Police on Kuringa Drive, Spence, deployed a tyre deflation device, however the Audi kept going along Kuringa Drive.

As a second patrol was preparing another tyre deflation device, police allege the Audi driver turned deliberately towards the stationary patrol car, narrowly missing it and the officers.

About 2.12am, the vehicle was travelling along Horse Park Drive, Casey, when stopped on the median strip and, police say, two boys made a run for it. The 17-year-old was apprehended in a nearby street.

He has been charged with driving a motor vehicle without consent, failing to stop for police, dangerous driving, driving a motor vehicle at police, driving while disqualified and refusing to undergo a screening test. He was also subject to a good behaviour order at the time.

Police are still looking for the second boy.
