Last year Jetstar increased its flights between Canberra and the Gold Coast to five days a week, but a recent scan of the airline’s schedule sees services being pegged back to four days a week and sometimes just three.
No official reason has been given for the reduction beyond a flippant remark from a Jetstar media flack that “flight schedules change – it’s a normal practice”.
By comparison, Virgin offers a daily service to the Gold Coast and, on occasion, it has offered a second flight between the two cities on the one day, suggesting the market can sustain additional flights.
According to the Jetstar schedule, it’ll be December before the airline resumes its five-day-a-week schedule.
