Bonza Airways… might have been saved by flying to Canberra.
By aviation writer Scott Mayman
An aviation expert has declared that failed Bonza Airways had a missed opportunity by not initially setting up flights involving the national capital.
Bonza should’ve included Canberra Airport from the get-go of its operations, says Justin Wastnage, from Griffith University.
He says the potential travelling population is perfect with the ACT because of the type of jets used (Boeing 737) and the fact that despite Canberra being a small base, the locals love to travel.
Mr Wastnage says Bonza would have seen success with flights in and out of Canberra.
The airline was in discussions with Canberra Airport authorities, but talks had not progressed.
Mr Wastnage says administrators have given Bonza until the end of the month find a new buyer.
