
A woman, confined to a car being driven around Gungahlin on Thursday evening, is believed to have called out to other road users for help.
Police are looking for witnesses to an alleged family violence incident having already arrested and charged a man with with forcible confinement; choking, suffocating or strangling another person, and recklessly inflicting actual bodily harm.
Police say that at about 5pm, a woman left a Franklin residence on foot and headed towards the nearby Nullarbor Avenue light rail stop. A short time later, a man driving a white Tesla (YQC69P) allegedly arrived at the light rail stop and requested the woman get in the vehicle.
It is alleged that the woman was subsequently confined in the car while being driven around the Gungahlin region, where the man assaulted the woman a number of times.
The woman was eventually able to leave the man’s residence about 7.30pm before seeking refuge at a friend’s house and contacting police. The man was subsequently arrested and charged.
Police want to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or the Tesla vehicle being driven in Gungahlin or Belconnen.
