Teen suspended and fined for speeding spree

A 17-year-old P-plater has had his licence suspended on the spot after police caught him driving – “to a mate’s house” – at 117km/h in a 60km/h zone in Watson on Saturday night.

Police say a white Mazda 6 sedan was spotted travelling at high speed along Phillip Avenue.  It turned on to Antill Street in Dickson, before overtaking several other cars at high speed – with the vehicle recorded driving at 117km/h in a 60km/h zone.

The teenage provisional licence holder, who had had four passengers on board, was suspended from driving for 90 days. For exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h, he was also fined $1841 and six demerit points.
