More than 70 per cent of Canberra general practices have signed up to a system giving them access to patients’ ACT public health records with their consent.

Health Minister Marisa Paterson says 91 of the ACT’s 127 general practices have registered for DHR Link, with more expected to join.

The service is part of the ACT’s Digital Health Record and allows authorised staff at participating practices to securely view public health information to help coordinate care between hospitals, community services and GPs.

Patients must provide written consent before their records can be accessed and can withdraw that consent at any time.

Canberrans can also access their records, including treatment plans, medications and upcoming appointments, through the MyDHR patient portal.
