A 65-year-old Watson man, who had never held a licence, was found to be driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle during a weekend police blitz on anti-social driving behaviour.
Police say they issued 35 traffic infringement notices and 13 defect notices during the operation, which took place in suburbs including Braddon and Florey. They detected vehicles that had been lowered beyond the required standard, vehicles with bald tyres and vehicles with engine components protruding from the bonnet,
The infringements were issued for a variety of offences including driving without headlights on, and not maintaining a vehicle safe to drive.Police also conducted 350 random breath tests, which nabbed four drivers in excess of the legal alcohol limit. One of those drivers was an 18-year-old Queanbeyan P-plater, whose right to drive in the ACT had been suspended for a similar offence in March.
