Two charged after police raid Comancheros

A police photo of multiple knives and machetes seized at a home in Kambah.

Police searched three homes across Canberra on Thursday afternoon, arresting two men and seizing weapons, ammunition and drugs as part of a co-ordinated operation targeting organised crime.

Police raided homes in Kambah, Evatt and Turner with assistance from AFP Tactical Response.

At the Evatt address, police allegedly seized a gel blaster firearm, knuckle dusters and a machete. Officers also located clothing believed to be linked to an aggravated burglary at a Curtin home in June.

A 43-year-old Evatt man was arrested and charged with aggravated burglary as well as weapons and firearms possession offences.

During the Kambah search, officers allegedly seized multiple knives and machetes along with a large quantity of ammunition.

In Turner home they allegedly located a trafficable quantity of methamphetamine, knuckle dusters and an extendable baton.

A 31-year-old man, who was subject to good behaviour obligations, was arrested and charged with two counts of possessing a prohibited weapon and trafficking in a controlled drug.

Police said both men have affiliations with the Comanchero outlaw motorcycle gang.

The operation formed part of a national day of action under National Task Force Morpheus, a joint initiative between Australian and New Zealand law enforcement agencies targeting crime linked to outlaw motorcycle gangs.

Investigations are continuing and further charges may be laid.

Anyone with information about outlaw motorcycle gang activity can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333000.
