Police are seeking witnesses after a dangerous driving incident in Tuggeranong on Thursday night that led to the arrest of a 25-year-old man.
Police say they were patrolling in Conder at about 11pm when they saw a light-coloured Toyota HiLux performing a burnout at the intersection of Box Hill Avenue and Heidelberg Street.
Police directed the driver to stop, however he drove away at speed.
Near the intersection of Box Hill Avenue and Balcombe Street, the driver lost control and collided with a streetlight after crossing onto the wrong side of the road to avoid another vehicle.
Police followed the vehicle along Tharwa Drive and Drakeford Drive before losing sight of it on Woodcock Drive in Gordon.
At about midnight, the 25-year-old man surrendered himself to police and the Toyota was later located in Theodore.
Police say the man was driving while his licence was suspended and returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.185.
The man was arrested and charged with driving while disqualified, aggravated reckless driving, improper use of a motor vehicle, and failing to stop for police.
Anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has dashcam footage of the Toyota driving dangerously in Conder, Gordon or Theodore, should contact police via the Crime Stoppers ACT website.
