Slumped driver refuses police breath tests

A 42-year-old man, found by police slumped in his car, has been charged following a single-vehicle collision in Civic early on Tuesday morning.

Police allege his vehicle collided with the curb in Marcus Clarke Street, causing the passenger side wheel to deflate and the vehicle to come to a halt.

The driver was subject to a licence condition requiring him to have an alcohol interlock device fitted to the vehicle, which police say they did not observe to be in the vehicle he was driving.

The driver refused a roadside alcohol screening test and, after being taken into custody, refused another breath analysis.

The man was issued with an immediate suspension notice and charged with refusing to undergo screening test, refusing a breath sample and contravening an interlock condition.
