A 26-year-old man has been charged with committing acts of family violence against his partner over four years, including one incident where he allegedly strangled her while she was holding an infant.
He was arrested in Latham on Friday after attempting to run from police.
Police allege that between 2020 and 2024, the man punched his partner repeatedly, tackled her to the ground, strangled her, damaged her property and didn’t allow her to leave the house.
The incidents were reported to police in March.
He is charged with family violence offences, including four counts of aggravated common assault, two counts of choking, suffocating or strangling another person, and two counts of forcible confinement.
