On the roads: drugged, speeding, unlicensed drivers

Two drivers have been charged and another has lost his licence after separate drug driving, unlicensed driving and speeding incidents over the weekend.

Police say they stopped a motorcyclist travelling at 127km/h in an 80km/h zone along Commonwealth Avenue on Friday evening. The 28-year-old Calwell man was issued with an immediate suspension notice and a $1841 fine.

Late on Saturday night police stopped a blue Suzuki Swift in Richardson.

The 60-year-old male driver, who was subject to bail conditions not to drive, was found to be unlicensed and driving an unregistered vehicle. A roadside drug test returned a positive result.

He has been charged with being an unlicensed driver, using an unregistered vehicle and having a prescribed drug in oral fluid.

Early on Monday morning, the driver of a white Toyota Hilux with no registration plates was pulled over in Richardson.

Police say the 28-year-old driver could not produce a licence and checks revealed the vehicle had been unregistered since 2019.

The man was charged with driving while disqualified, using an unregistered vehicle, not displaying provisional plates and not having registration plates attached to the vehicle.
