A 96-year-old man has been extradited from Queensland to face six historic sexual offence charges in the ACT.
In 2022, a woman reported multiple allegations of sexual assaults that occurred in the 1970s and 1980s.
Following an investigation by the Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Team, a summons was issued for a 96-year-old Queensland man to face charges. Police say the man repeatedly refused to attend and an arrest warrant was issued.
The man was extradited to the ACT on Friday and faces charges including carnally knowing a girl between 10 and 16, carnal knowledge of a girl under 10, indecent assault on a female and persistent sexual abuse of a child. Police say the charges laid were in place at the time of the alleged offending.
