A masked 17-year-old teenager jumped the counter of a Kippax supermarket and stole a large quantity of cigarettes and tobacco.

Police allege when a member of the public attempted to intervene, the boy pulled a large knife from his bag and threatened them.

Following an investigation of the January 31 incident, police searched the boy’s home on Friday where they say they discovered a knife, clothes matching the clothing worn by the alleged offender and packets of cigarettes.

The teenager, who is currently subject to a good behaviour order for other matters, was arrested in Coombs and has been charged with theft and possessing an offensive weapon with intent.
