A 20-year-old Latham man is facing court later this month charged with common assault following an altercation in Civic early on New Year’s Day.

At about 1.45am police responded to an altercation during which the 20-year-old allegedly assaulted another man in the vicinity of East Row and One22 Club. The victim fell to the ground.

Police say there were many bystanders in the area at the time and some may have filmed the incident on mobile phones.
