Community laundry makes a clean start

The Weston Creek Community Centre’s free laundry is back.

Weston Creek Community Centre is once again offering free clothes washing and drying services for homeless people and anyone in need.

Manager Yung Tran said a thief cut open the gate padlock at the Cooleman Court centre’s back courtyard in mid-December and made off with the Bosch washing machine and Bosch heat-pump dryer.

The centre had now bought a dryer and the Gungahlin Rural Fire Service had donated a new washing machine.

Extra security measures were installed to monitor and protect the facility.

The machines were set up in 2023 to provide free laundry services for homeless people and anyone in need.

Together with the free shower, anyone who needs to use these facilities can contact the centre to book a time
