POWER has been restored to the rebuilt Selwyn Snow Resort, clearing one of the final stumbling blocks for the resort’s re-opening in June after bushfires savaged the Snowy Mountains and destroyed the tourist destination in January, 2020.
The resort’s buildings were all but destroyed by the blaze, which also damaged its snow machines and 10 ski lifts.
Managed by the Blyton Group, group manager Ewan Murdoch says the electricity restoration was exactly what the resort needed.
“All our infrastructure is sitting here waiting to go” he said.
“We’ve had a great rebuild. All our lifts are better than before… it’s re-born.
“It’s the same resort but it’s transformed – it’s brought us up to the 21st century”.
“It’s a great relief to have power back on again… We’re a huge step closer to making snow in May”.
Selwyn Snow Resort is expected to reopen after more than three years on June 10.
