Belconnen gets 12 new EV charging bays

Twelve new electric vehicle fast-charging bays have opened across three sites in Belconnen.

Twelve new electric vehicle fast-charging bays have opened across three sites in Belconnen as the ACT’s total EV registrations surpass 20,000.

The new chargers are located at Emu Bank and Charnwood Shops, operated by Evie Networks, and Lakeview Square in Belconnen, operated by SolarHub.

The facilities include accessible charging bays designed in consultation with local advocacy groups.

The ACT government says more than 40 per cent of new vehicle registrations last month were electric vehicles, with total EV registrations rising from 13,300 a year ago to more than 20,000.

A further 90 public charging bays are planned across the ACT over the next few years, adding to the existing 330 bays, almost half of which received government funding.

The government also offers support for EV purchases and private charger installations through its Sustainable Household Scheme, alongside electrification assistance for apartment buildings and businesses.

Locations of public charging stations are available through the Everyday Climate Choices website.
