Moncrieff man charged with firearms, drugs possession

A 30-year-old man has been charged after police allegedly found two firearms, ammunition and drugs during a search of a Moncrieff home.

Police attended the property on Tuesday to execute a search warrant but were initially refused entry.

After forcing entry, officers heard movement in the roof space and later called in specialist negotiators and AFP Tactical Response officers after ammunition was found inside the home.

The man, who was the subject of an arrest warrant, surrendered after about two hours of negotiations and was arrested.

Police later seized a foldable single-shot pistol, a shortened double-barrel shotgun, drugs, stolen number plates and OC spray.

The man has been charged with failing to appear in court after a bail undertaking and breaching bail conditions.

Investigations are continuing and further charges may be laid.
