The world is open to diners big on flavour at the newest adventure by The Chairman Group.

World is a casual eatery concentrating on quality ingredients, quality presentation of international, comfort foods and Asian-inspired plates, and quality service. It’s a welcome addition to Canberra’s new East Traders Hall, Constitution Avenue.
Oreo is the mascot and this darling dog features on staff T-shirts and the menu. If you’re lucky, you might catch Oreo lounging in the sunshine after a morning walk.
Seven days a week, World offers coffee, brunch and dinner. We were brunching it, exploring the many global cuisines on the menu.
Starting with French, we shared a signature galette. Silky, smooth smoked salmon from Tasmania was sensational and the dish smashed it out of the park on flavour ($24). A generous portion of salmon was served on top of a thin, buckwheat pancake. Tasty were dollops of flirty dill mayo and salty capers.
A small side salad featured a brilliant dressing created with caramelised honey and balsamic, providing a natural sweetness that helped cut through the rich salmon.

Since sharing is caring, we moved to a Japanese dish with Chinese roots – oatmeal ramen with slices of tender chicken ($26). This is comfort food at its best. Perfectly balanced was the oat milk miso broth. The veggies, half egg and vibrant chilli oil all made their mark.
A more intense dish, staying with Japanese cuisine, was the duck leg curry with perfectly executed Udon ($29). World’s friendly staff are super knowledgeable about all dishes and advised us to get the most out of this one by first adding curry to our bowls and then having fun coating the noodles before slurping away. The dish features a dipping sauce, more than a full broth, which coats the noodles well. Loved, loved, loved the super tender duck.

To round out our meal, we celebrated a true Australian icon, the lamington ($9.50 each). These are a sweet collaboration between the famous Tokyo Lamington and The Chairman Group.
I’ll openly admit that lamingtons aren’t always my favourite treat… I find at times the sponge cake is on the drier side, but World’s version (all with a twist) have converted me forever. We couldn’t get enough of the vanilla and miso lamington, so soft and creamy.
World also sells gift boxes (four pieces for $36) with other flavours including pandan mango, black sesame and, for a bit of Italian, tiramisu.
From “the sip list” we enjoyed brunch with 2025 Twinwoods Estate Chardonnay from Margaret River ($68).
World is the latest eatery Canberra’s The Chairman Group, which has also brought to the capital top venues Chairman and Yip, Lanterne Rooms, Mu, Cicada Bar and Karl Bar.
