Women and men charged with weekend family violence

Two women and three men were charged with various family violence offences, including assault, sexual assault and property damage, after several incidents over the weekend.

Police say that in one incident, a 20-year-old woman was charged after allegedly slapping and kicking her male partner in a Canberra nightclub on Sunday morning.

Also on Sunday morning, a 70-year-old man was arrested after allegedly sexually assaulting his female partner.

A 23-year-old woman was charged with possessing an offensive weapon with intent after allegedly threatening her partner with garden shears and assaulting him around midday Sunday.

In the other two incidents, a 37-year-old man and a 20-year-old man were charged after allegedly strangling their female partners.
