Virgin shows off new jet for regional services

Virgin’s first new E190-E2 jet.

By aviation writer Scott Mayman

Virgin Australia’s first Embraer E190-E2 touched down in Canberra earlier this week as part of an exhibition journey to Perth.

The next-generation jet will join the Virgin Australia Regional Airlines fleet in October.

In Perth, it’s expected to service customers from next week on regional flights, but it will also see varied service between Canberra and Perth.

E190 E2 jets will eventually replace Virgin’s fleet of Fokker 100 aircraft.
