Teenage girl arrested for assaulting police officer

A police officer needed hospital treatment after being allegedly punched, kicked and bitten by a 16-year-old female in Erindale yesterday.

Late on Monday afternoon police were making a welfare call at the home of the teenager only to find she was at the Erindale shops.

Police found the girl who, they say, attempted to leave after being stopped by the officers.

She is then alleged to have assaulted a police officer a number of times, by punching, kicking and biting.

The officer was taken to Canberra Hospital for treatment.

The teenager was arrested and charged with multiple offences including five counts of assaulting a  frontline community service provider and two counts assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
