Wheels down… Qatar Airways returns to in Canberra.

By aviation writer SCOTT MAYMAN

Qatar Airways has restarted services to Canberra Airport, making the carrier the ACT’s second international airline.

Airport CEO Stephen Byron says the Doha-based airline’s return appears to be popular, with forward bookings for the next year showing 30 per cent more than when the carrier first launch flights out of Canberra airport in 2018.

The first return flight from Doha, via Melbourne, arrived at Canberra airport just before 9am on Tuesday and less than half an hour late.

Qatar is offering daily flights from Canberra to Doha, via Melbourne.
