Police swoop on alleged shoplifters

Two people have been arrested in separate incidents for stealing from a department store and a supermarket.

Police were called the Canberra Centre following reports a man had allegedly attempted to leave a department store without paying for clothing on Thursday afternoon. They arrested a 60-year-old Reid man and charged him with minor theft, going equipped for theft and obstructing/resisting a territory public official.

Meanwhile, in Gungahlin, a 41-year-old woman from Ngunnawal was arrested after allegedly leaving a supermarket without paying for items.

The woman, who was subject to bail conditions, was charged with minor theft.
