Witness to shopping centre knife incident comes forward

UPDATE: Monday am – Police report that the witness has contacted investigators.

Police are seeking to identify a man who intervened when a 38-year-old man allegedly threatened shoppers with a knife and a syringe at a retail store in Greenway earlier this year.

At about 3.45pm on August 27,  the man who had witnessed the incident confronted the offender at a store in the South Point shopping centre.

Police describe the witness as Caucasian in appearance, between 186cm to 190cm (6’1”- 6’3”) tall, with brown hair in a ponytail, and he was wearing an orange high-vis shirt. The man also spoke with a Scottish accent.
